成立于公元1859年的瓦尔帕莱索大学Valparaiso University，简称为Valpo，为一所具有百年悠久历史的教学型大学。该校的前身为瓦尔帕莱索男女学院(Valparaiso Male and Female College)，具有严格的宗教色彩。
学校共有5个学院70多个专业领域，设有文理学院(Arts & Sciences)、工商管理学院(Business Administration)、工程学院(Engineering)、护理学院(Nursing)与基督教学院(Christ College)。
持学生证的同学可以住在校园公寓里，东边的公寓用于夏季住宅。Apartment amenities include air-conditioning, internet, cable, furnished living room with television, kitchen with all major appliances, washer/dryer unit and private bedroom with full-sized bed and private bathroom. Apartments are provided with the necessary furniture, but students must supply their own bedding, pillows, towels, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc. 公寓设施包括空调，互联网，有线电视，带有电视的客厅，厨房里有，包括洗衣机、烘干机在内的电器设备，卧室提供床和浴室。公寓提供必要的家具，但学生必须提供自己的被褥，枕头，毛巾，厨房用具，壶，锅等。
学校位于芝加哥市中心东南部约50分钟车程，是著名大学城。该校北临密西根湖(美国最大的内陆湖)和印第安那沙丘国家湖岸，环境优美。
